How to Organize and Use the Google Assistant ‘Bedtime’ Routine
Most of us follow a bedtime routine, including switching off the lights, putting an alarm, turning your device to silent mode, etc. However, even the simplest jobs sound tough when you’re exhausted and tucked in bed without turning off the lights. Getting up again and following the routine seems like a bad idea.
Do not worry! You can do it with Google Assistant ‘Bedtime’ routine using Google’s Home app. Sounds great, right. ‘Routines’ are an in-built feature for the Assistant that offers you to create a sequence of actions that can be done using a single command. They can benefit a lot if you put in some effort to set them up.

How to Set up ‘Routines’ Feature?
The steps to set up a ‘Routines’ feature on your Google Assistant are:
Launch the Google Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.
Select the ‘Routines’ tab from the menu.
Click on the ‘Manage Routines’ button at the bottom of the screen.
You’ll see a ready-made section that has some premade routines. Click on the ‘Bedtime’ routine option.
The next window will show a lot of options regarding the routine info. Click on the text space for the ‘When’ option to add the commands to the list.
Once you’ve entered the commands, hit the ‘Ok’ button at the top.
Hop on the next section and view the jobs carried out by Google Assistant. You may enable as many actions as you want. Not only this, but you can tap on the ‘Settings’ icon to adjust the settings.
Click on the ‘Add Action’ button to add personalized actions.
Under the Custom Command section, you can add phrases that you’ll say to the Assistant. For instance, you could say ‘Turn off the living room lights’ to turn the lights off automatically.
Once you’re done adding the custom commands, tap on the ‘Ok’ button at the top of the screen.
Use the ‘Change Order’ option to change the order of the actions as they’ll occur. To do the same, press and hold on the horizontal lines icon and drag accordingly to adjust their sequence.
Click on the ‘Done’ button.
You can work with the media and set certain commands. Select any one of the following options and click on the settings icon next to the same to set it up.
Music: Set a playlist, song, artist, and a default time to start playing. The music will play from the default service.
Sleep Sounds: You can opt to play the sleep sounds that’ll automatically stop playing after a while.
Nothing: You can choose to keep it as no audio after the Assistant commands.
To save the complete routine, click on the ‘Save’ button at the top of the window.
Once you set up the routine, all you have to do is say the command to the Assistant, for instance, ‘Hey Google, bedtime,’ and the routine will follow.
Setting up the process seems complex as it consists of a lot of steps and settings that can be changed. However, once you get a hold of setting up routines on your device, it’ll become a go-to option whenever you’re tired or lazy to get up.
